Bench: vetted teachers, tutors and mentors

When a learner needs a person, Bench is built to help find the right one.

A retired engineer and a teenage girl throw their arms up as the glider they built sails over the lawn.

A patient tutor can do a great deal, but sometimes a learner needs a person: a child stuck on a hard subject, or a student who wants a mentor in their field.

Bench is the Village marketplace. It is being built so that schools, companies and families can find vetted teachers, tutors and mentors, for any subject and any level.

What it will do

  • Connect both sides. Schools, companies and families on one side. Teachers, tutors and mentors on the other.
  • Check everyone first. Everyone on Bench will be checked before they meet a learner.
  • Protect children. The strictest rules will apply wherever children are involved.
  • Cover any subject. Any subject and any level, at home, in school and on Campus.

The idea behind it

As AI takes on more of the routine work, people have more time to give. Village exists to make sure that time goes to the learners who need it most. Bench is how learners will find the right person, and how good teachers will reach more learners.

How it fits

At Home, Bench will help a family find a tutor or mentor when a child needs a person. At School and on Campus, it will bring in vetted tutors and mentors for any subject or field. Read more on the Village page.

Where it stands

Bench is in development at United Education, and the marketplace is not open yet, to learners or to teachers. It will open when it is ready, and the release ledger is where that will be marked.
