Liber Edge: a free tutor that runs on your own device
No connection and no cost. The tutor lives on the device itself.
Liber Edge is the free tier of Liber, our tutor, and one of our first three releases, with Liber Open and Liber Frontier. It runs on the learner’s own laptop or phone, so it works anywhere the network ends, at no cost.
Why on the device
A tutor that needs a fast connection leaves out every learner who does not have one. Liber Edge runs on the device itself: every lesson and the tutor work fully offline, on low-cost laptops and phones.
The same way of teaching
Liber Edge teaches the way every tier of Liber does.
- Questions first. It asks what you think before it explains, so you do the thinking.
- Hints, not answers. It offers the next small step, then waits for you to take it.
- At your pace. It never rushes, and it checks that each idea stuck before moving on.
- In your language. From first letters to advanced work.
The first three tiers
Liber Edge goes out together with two other tiers. Liber Open is open tutor models anyone can run and build on, at low cost. Liber Frontier runs the tutor on the strongest AI models, for the hardest subjects and the highest stakes. A fourth tier, Liber Sovereign, a private tutor an organization runs in its own secure environment, is still in development. The way of teaching is the same in every tier.
Built for the weakest device
We build for the weakest device first: if it works on a low-cost laptop or a basic phone, it works for everyone. Liber Edge is meant to be the tutor at home, at school and in the Field, and the tutor inside Caravan, a whole school on a low-cost laptop that is still in development.
