Passport: a learning record that belongs to you

Everything you learn, in one record that goes where you go.

A mother and her daughter walk through an iron gate onto a campus, the girl skipping ahead.

People learn in many places across a life. Too often, what they learned in one place does not follow them to the next, and they have to prove it again.

Passport is the learner’s record in Grid. It is being built to hold your skills, history and preferences across every learning tool, owned by you, and to go where you go: to the next school, the next college and the next job.

What it will hold

  • Skills. Every skill proven, with the evidence behind it.
  • Courses. What you studied, and where.
  • Certificates. Every certificate and degree you earn.
  • Preferences. How you like to learn, so every tool starts where you left off.

The idea behind it

A record of learning should belong to the person who did the learning. Passport is designed so nothing moves to a school, an employer or anyone else without your permission, and a permission you gave can be withdrawn. For a child, the family holds the record until the child is ready to.

How it fits

Grid pairs the institution’s platform, SchoolOS and CampusOS, with the learner’s own record. A worker will prove each skill in Passport, and Atlas will help those skills meet real openings. A family on the move will take it across camps and borders. Read more on the Grid page.

Where it stands

Passport is in development inside United Education. We will release it when it is ready, and its turn will be marked on the release ledger.
