Proof: every product checked against learning research

Where the research is clear, we follow it. Where it is missing, we will run the study.

Two copies of the same quiz on a desk, before and after, with a pencil between them.

Decades of learning science already say a great deal about how people learn, and some questions still have no answer. A good product should follow what is known and help find out what is not.

Proof is being built at United Education Labs to test each product against the research on learning, and to run new studies where the research is missing.

What it will do

  • Check every product. Each one tested against the research on learning.
  • Fill the gaps. New studies where the research has no answer yet.
  • Publish what it finds. Methods, data and results in the open, so anyone can check them.
  • Protect the people in it. Studies will use de-identified or combined data, and personal information will never be published.

The idea behind it

Learning is the measure: what a person can do after, that they could not do before. Proof is meant to hold every product to that standard, and to add to the science, not only draw on it.

How it fits

Proof is planned for every place we build for. It sits beside Delta, which is designed to measure how well AI tutors teach, and Cohort, which will test tutors on simulated students and with panels of real students. Universities and research groups that want to study what works, in the open, can partner with the lab. Read more on the Labs page.

Where it stands

Proof is still being built inside United Education Labs. We will release it when it is ready, and it will appear on the release ledger.
