Seal: every product checked against the rules
Privacy, consent and accessibility, checked before a product reaches a learner.

Learning tools hold personal information, often about children, and they have to work for every learner. Following the rules that protect people should not depend on someone remembering at the last minute.
Seal is the compliance layer in Grid. It is being built to keep every product compliant with privacy, consent and accessibility rules, with each product checked against those rules before it reaches a learner.
What it will check
- Privacy. That a product uses what it needs to teach, and nothing more.
- Consent. That nothing moves to a school, an employer or anyone else without the learner’s permission.
- Accessibility. That a product is built for every learner, down to the weakest device.
- Timing. That the check happens before a product reaches a learner, not after.
The idea behind it
A promise is only as good as the check behind it. Seal is meant to make that check part of the path to every release, so compliance is built in from the start.
How it fits
Seal is one of three layers that protect everyone, with Shield for security and Crossing Guard for safety. The plan is for every United product to run on all three. In Service, Seal is meant to keep training compliant with privacy and records rules. Read more on the Grid page.
Where it stands
Seal is still being built inside United Education. We will release it when it is ready, and it will show on the release ledger when the time comes.
