Shield: security for systems, data and the AI itself

Built for services that cannot afford a breach, down to closed networks with no internet.

A nurse reads a training module on a tablet at the nurses’ station of a small hospital.

A hospital, a fire service or an agency that trains its people with AI takes on a new kind of risk. Its records must stay inside, and the tutor itself can become a target.

Shield is the security layer in Grid. It is being built to secure systems and data, including protection against attacks on AI, and to sit under every United product, with Seal and Crossing Guard.

What it will protect

  • Networks. It is designed to run on closed networks, with no public internet needed.
  • Data. Training records will stay inside the service, encrypted in transit and at rest.
  • Models. It will guard the tutor itself against misuse and attack.
  • Access. The right people will see the right records, and no one else, with every access logged.

The idea behind it

Safe by design means protection is part of a product from the start, not added later. Shield is meant to give every product the same protection, from a family laptop to a closed military network.

How it fits

Shield is planned for Work and Service, where it will protect company systems and the closed networks that services train on. It is designed to work alongside Liber Sovereign, the private tutor an organization owns and runs in its own secure environment. Read more on the Grid page.

Where it stands

Shield is in development inside United Education and has not been released. It will be, when it is ready. The release ledger is where its turn will appear.
